An orange is an orange is an orange – it’s true. Nature does her best to provide sun, rain, warmth, moisture and, when harvest time comes, cool nights. But when the fruit is ripe, it’s the producer who makes all the difference.

First, all our fruit is hand picked and carefully handled to avoid any damage to the peel or stem and thus prevent anything from getting inside. Fruit that falls on the ground is left there, because the microbes, bacteria and insects found in the soil could contaminate an entire lot.Such little details may seem trivial, but these precautions are essential in order to deliver premium quality product.

At the packing plant, the fruit is washed, sorted, boxed, and refrigerated before it is loaded into the trucks that deliver it to you. EDREC fruit undergoes no fewer than 5 inspections throughout this process. First, a visual inspection is conducted to find any obvious problems. The fruit is then washed and inspected again with a digital imaging system that photographs the fruit from all angles to ensure that fruit with even tiny imperfections is rejected. The next step involves an automated system that weighs the fruit and rejects any with inadequate juice content.

Next, the fruit is packed in boxes by hand according to size, and visually inspected again. The final inspection is done before the box is closed. To prevent condensation during shipping, the fruit is refrigerated for several hours before it is loaded onto the trucks.

After Nature has finished her work, EDREC takes over. Our 25 years of expertise in the business has enabled us to perfect our operations and ensure superior quality year after year. An orange is an orange is an orange, but it’s the one who arrives AFTER the harvest who makes the difference – the EDREC difference!
